This book should come with a flashlight

I'll admit it: I don't like scary stuff, for the most part. I don't watch horror movies, and I have never successfully made it through a haunted house. But there's something about reading scary stuff that I love, perhaps because I know i"m in control. I can put the book down and walk away. That is, until I read Campfire by Shawn Sarles. I was not able to put this down, and I don't think you will be able to, either. This Teen / YA title is the absolute perfect summer read for teens and tweens who cut their teeth on the Goosebumps titles.

Here's the setup:

On a camping trip in the middle of nowhere, Maddie Davenport and her friends settle in around a campfire to tell scary stories. Their guide, Caleb, starts by telling the legend of the local Mountain Mn who prey on unsuspecting campers, leaving a grisly calling card: the carving of antlers into their victims' foreheads.

The truly scary part? The next day, that story comes to life.

In fact, all of the stories told around the fire that fateful night start to come to life, and the group soon finds themselves lost in the woods trying to outrun their worst nightmares.
