If you're still looking for a few last-minute games for the kids on your list, I've got a great suggestion for the preschool set. Mosquito Madness, a game by Outset Media, combines fast-paced fun with hand-eye co-ordination and other skills.

Mosquito Madness

In Mosquito Madness, players race to find the mossquito cards from the general pool on the table that match those on their "bingo" card. When you find a piece you need, "slap" the piece with your hand (as if you are swatting a mosquito) pick it up and place it on your card. Each card is different, so every player will be looking for different combinations of pieces, but there will be some overlap so the faster you can find all your pieces, the better! The first person to fill up his or her card is the winner!

This is a great game for many reasons. First, it's fun! Second, it's easy to learn and quick to set up, with very few rules, Focus/ConcentrationSpeed/AccuracyHand-eye Coordination (fine motor)it easy to teach to little ones (the recommended age on the game is 4 years and up). Finally, the game is educational, which is a fantastic plus for parents. Mosquito madness teaches a variety of skills, including:

  • Concentration

  • Hand-eye Co-ordination

  • Accuracy

Although this game is aimed at preschool-age kids, as you can see from the photo below, older kids love it, too! There's something about a fun, easy-to-learn game that inspires healthy competition and gets kids of all ages to get on board.

Mosquito Madness makes a great gift for families with children of varying ages, as everyone can play along together!
