Monday Motivation: Set a Timer!

It's Monday again. I can hear you groaning from here -- in between yawns and desperate sips of coffee, of course. Being a WAHM, Monday is often the day I look around and assess the fallout from the weekend (when our lives are just too busy to stop and do an extensive clean). There's bags that need to be unpacked. Clothes strewn about that need to be put away. Dishes from last night's meal to wash (I know, they should have been done last night, but...) The whole idea seems too daunting to handle on any day, let alone the beast that is Monday.
Here's the cruel reality: It has to get done. There are no cleaning fairies who will magically stop in and put my house back in order again. The answer: set a timer.
It may seem daunting to clean your whole house all at once, but virtually anyone can manage to be productive for, say 15 minutes. You would be amazed at how much you can achieve when you put a manageable time limit on it. Here are things you can do in a 15-minute block of time:
Wash the dishes
Strip the beds and remake them
Empty the garbage cans
Put things back where they belong
Fold laundry
Pay bills
Return email (don't check Facebook!)
Whatever it is, do it for 15 minutes, until the timer goes. Being able to cross a couple of things off of your to-do list has the amazing ability to keep you going. If you feel inspired to keep moving forward, set the timer again for another 15 minutes and keep going. Be sure to also schedule some breaks and treats into your day, though! They have motivating power, too :)
It's Monday! Get going! Let's set our timers together. Ready? 3...2...1....GO!
