Picky eating is a phenomenon in North America, it seems. There are scores of families making short-order meals and bending over backwards to make food appealing to their pint-size food critics. That's not the case the world over, however. In "French Kids Eat Everything (And Yours Can, Too) author Karen Le Billion moves with her husband and two young daughters from Vancouver, B,C, to her husband's hometown in northern France. Although prepared for a certain degree of culture shock, Karen is surprised to find how much her family's eating habits come under scrutiny in their new surroundings because, as the book's title suggests, picky eating isn't a part of the French culinary culture.
Published in paperback in 2013 the book chronicles how the Le Billion family not only adjusts to living and eating in France, but also how the family adopts the French rules of eating to foster more healthy eating habits, good manners and a generally more positive attitude toward eating.
Part travel memoir, part parenting book, part cookbook, this book is a great read for anyone who is experiencing mealtime challenges. It offers a wealth of insight on how people in France cook for their families as well as takeaway strategies that can work for any family, no matter where on the globe your dining table happens to be.
