So many studies have shown the benefits of reading to children, but as many parents and educators know, it's not always easy to keep young audiences engaged in the story. A new book by Dave Eggers, illustrated by Laura Park has that problem solved in the best, most clever way.

Can you help Abner and Ian get right-side up??

Abner & Ian Get Right-Side Up takes story time up a level. On the opening spread of the book, Abner and Ian (a duck and an otter) are not quite right. They are stuck on the sides of the page. What can they do? They decide to enlist the help of the reader to set things right again. The child is asked to help them solve the problem. Abner and Ian ask the child to shake the book to try to get things right --- and things go very, very wrong in a very funny way.

This book is a hilarious, interactive story that will definitely keep young readers engaged and entertained. Be warned, however: They just might get a bad case of the giggles! Also fair warning: This is destined to become one of those books you are asked to read over and over again!

Dave Eggers has absolutely hit it out of the park with this book. We have long been past the picture book stage in our house, but my 11-year-old daughter sat and let me read the entire book to her, laughing and giggling the entire time, declaring when it was over "That was SUCH a funny book."

Abner & Ian Get Right-Side Up will be available beginning May 14th wherever books are sold.
