One of the things my daughter and I share is a love of books and reading, so when I come across a special book to share, my heart fills up :) Although my daughter is 9 and can read books well past the picture book phase, we both still love to share picture books together, especially when they have a mother-daughter theme.
Mamasaurus by Stephan Lomp is a sweet story of Babysaurus dinosaur searching for his Mamasaurus after slipping off her back and getting separated from her. He travels through the jungle asking each creature he encounters whether they have seen his mama:
"Does she have a long horn like my mama?" asked Tritopa
"No, but she has wonderful long neck," answered Babysaurus
And so continues the search until Babysaurus realizes his mama is right behind him. She had been searching for him, too!
The black background on all of the pages in this book is somewhat unconventional for children's books, but it forms the perfect backdrop for the brightly colour characters, allowing them to leap from the page in vivid technicolour.
This is a really sweet book, perfect for cuddly read-aloud times with your little ones. This Mother's Day, cuddle up with your babies and share in this beautiful, touching story about the unshakeable bond between a mother and her child.
